Val McGaughey

Texture–Spirit–Vibrant Color–Val makes textileart wall hangings. Her work is about her love of painting and layering organic images on fibers, and about being in love with color, lots of juicy color, in big pots, for dyeing and painting white fibers. And the way fibers feel when touched and their wonderful textures. Patching and piecing one textile with another, then painting and printing it, woven cloth reminds Val of the web that holds us all together.

Val earned her MFA from the College of Design at NC State University. She is a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild. Commissions are welcomed.
